クマより速く
Two friends were hiking through a national park, enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful scenery. They had just stopped for a rest when they heard a loud crashing sound in the bushes behind them.
They turned around. A huge brown bear was standing on the path, staring straight at them. Then it let out a terrifying roar and started running towards them.
Without saying a word, one of the friends sat down, pulled his running shoes out of his backpack and began to put them on as fast as he could.
His friend stared at him in disbelief. "What are you doing?" he hissed. "You can't outrun a bear!"
The first man finished tying his laces and stood up.
"I don't have to outrun the bear," he said. "I just have to outrun you."
二人の友人が国立公園をハイキングしていました。新鮮な空気と美しい景色を楽しみながら歩き、ちょうどひと休みしたところで、背後のやぶからバキバキという大きな音が聞こえてきました。
振り返ると、巨大なヒグマが道に立って、二人をじっとにらんでいます。次の瞬間、クマはおそろしいうなり声を上げて、二人に向かって走り出しました。
すると、友人の一人が何も言わずに座りこみ、リュックからランニングシューズを取り出して、大急ぎではき始めました。
もう一人は信じられないという顔で彼を見つめました。「何やってるんだ？」と声をひそめて言いました。「クマより速く走れるわけないだろう！」
最初の男は靴ひもを結び終えると、立ち上がりました。
「クマより速く走る必要はないさ」と彼は言いました。「おまえより速く走ればいいんだ」
