三びきのくま
Once upon a time, three bears lived together in a little house in the woods. There was a great big Father Bear, a middle-sized Mother Bear and a tiny little Baby Bear.
One morning, Mother Bear made porridge for breakfast. It was too hot to eat straight away, so the three bears went for a walk in the woods while it cooled down.
While they were out, a little girl called Goldilocks came along. She saw the house, peeped through the window and, when nobody answered her knock, she opened the door and walked in.
On the table were three bowls of porridge. She tasted the porridge in the great big bowl. "This is too hot!" she said. She tasted the porridge in the middle-sized bowl. "This is too cold!" Then she tasted the porridge in the tiny little bowl. "This is just right," she said, and she ate it all up.
Next, she saw three chairs. She sat in the great big chair. "This is too hard!" She sat in the middle-sized chair. "This is too soft!" Then she sat in the tiny little chair. "This is just right," she said. But she was too heavy for it, and the chair broke into pieces.
By now, Goldilocks was feeling tired, so she went upstairs to the bedroom. She lay on the great big bed, but it was too high at the head. She lay on the middle-sized bed, but it was too high at the foot. Then she lay on the tiny little bed. It was just right, and she fell fast asleep.
Soon the three bears came home.
"Someone's been eating my porridge," growled Father Bear.
"Someone's been eating my porridge," said Mother Bear.
"Someone's been eating my porridge," cried Baby Bear, "and they've eaten it all up!"
Then they looked at the chairs. "Someone's been sitting in my chair," said Father Bear. "Someone's been sitting in my chair," said Mother Bear. "Someone's been sitting in my chair," sobbed Baby Bear, "and they've broken it!"
The bears went upstairs. "Someone's been sleeping in my bed," said Father Bear. "Someone's been sleeping in my bed," said Mother Bear. "Someone's been sleeping in my bed," squeaked Baby Bear, "and she's still there!"
At that moment, Goldilocks woke up and saw the three bears staring at her. She jumped out of bed, leapt through the window and ran home as fast as her legs could carry her. And the three bears never saw her again.
むかしむかし、森の中の小さな家に、三びきのくまが住んでいました。とても大きなお父さんぐま、中くらいのお母さんぐま、そしてちっちゃな子ぐまです。
ある朝、お母さんぐまが朝ごはんにおかゆを作りました。熱くてすぐには食べられないので、三びきはおかゆが冷めるまで、森へ散歩に出かけました。
そのあいだに、ゴルディロックスという小さな女の子がやって来ました。女の子は家を見つけると、窓からのぞきこみ、戸をたたいても誰も出てこないので、戸を開けて中に入ってしまいました。
テーブルの上には、おかゆのおわんが三つありました。女の子は大きなおわんのおかゆを食べてみました。「これは熱すぎるわ！」中くらいのおわんのおかゆを食べてみました。「これは冷たすぎるわ！」それから、ちっちゃなおわんのおかゆを食べてみました。「これはちょうどいいわ」女の子はそう言って、おかゆをぜんぶ食べてしまいました。
次に、いすが三つ目に入りました。大きないすに座ってみました。「これは硬すぎるわ！」中くらいのいすに座ってみました。「これはやわらかすぎるわ！」それから、ちっちゃないすに座ってみました。「これはちょうどいいわ」ところが女の子には重すぎたので、いすはばらばらにこわれてしまいました。
そのころには女の子はくたびれてきたので、二階の寝室へ上がっていきました。大きなベッドに寝てみましたが、頭のほうが高すぎます。中くらいのベッドに寝てみましたが、足のほうが高すぎます。それから、ちっちゃなベッドに寝てみると、ちょうどよかったので、ぐっすり眠ってしまいました。
まもなく、三びきのくまが帰ってきました。
「誰かがわしのおかゆを食べたぞ」とお父さんぐまがうなりました。
「誰かがわたしのおかゆを食べたわ」とお母さんぐまが言いました。
「誰かがぼくのおかゆを食べたよ」と子ぐまが泣き出しました。「ぜんぶ食べちゃった！」
それから三びきはいすを見ました。「誰かがわしのいすに座ったぞ」とお父さんぐま。「誰かがわたしのいすに座ったわ」とお母さんぐま。「誰かがぼくのいすに座ったよ」と子ぐまはしゃくりあげました。「こわしちゃった！」
三びきは二階へ上がりました。「誰かがわしのベッドで寝たぞ」とお父さんぐま。「誰かがわたしのベッドで寝たわ」とお母さんぐま。「誰かがぼくのベッドで寝たよ」と子ぐまがかん高い声を上げました。「まだここにいる！」
そのとき、ゴルディロックスは目を覚まし、三びきのくまが自分をじっと見ているのに気がつきました。女の子はベッドから飛び起き、窓から飛び出して、いっしょうけんめい走って家へ帰りました。それきり、三びきのくまが女の子を見かけることは二度とありませんでした。
