洪水
After days of heavy rain, the river burst its banks, and the whole town began to flood. Everyone was told to leave, but one very religious man refused to go.
"God will save me," he said. "I have faith."
As the water rose, he climbed up onto his front porch. A neighbour drove past in a four-wheel drive. "Get in!" she shouted. "The water's still rising!"
"No, thank you," said the man. "God will save me."
The water kept rising, and soon the man had to climb out of an upstairs window. A rescue team came past in a boat. "Quick, jump in!" they called.
"No, thank you," said the man. "God will save me."
Before long, the man was standing on the roof, with water swirling all around him. A helicopter flew overhead and lowered a rope. "Grab the rope!" shouted the pilot. "We'll pull you up!"
"No, thank you," the man shouted back. "God will save me!"
The water kept rising, and in the end, the man was swept away and drowned.
When he arrived in heaven, he was furious. "I had complete faith in you!" he said to God. "Why didn't you save me?"
God sighed. "I sent you a car, a boat and a helicopter. What more did you want?"
连着下了好几天大雨，河水漫过了河岸，整个镇子都开始被淹了。所有人都接到了撤离的通知，可是有一个非常虔诚的男人就是不肯走。
“上帝会救我的，”他说，“我有信心。”
水位不断上涨，他爬到了自家门廊的顶上。一个邻居开着四驱车经过。“快上车！”她喊道，“水还在涨呢！”
“不用了，谢谢，”男人说，“上帝会救我的。”
水越涨越高，没过多久，男人只好从楼上的窗户爬了出去。一支救援队划着船经过。“快，跳上来！”他们喊道。
“不用了，谢谢，”男人说，“上帝会救我的。”
很快，男人站到了屋顶上，四周全是打着旋儿的洪水。一架直升机从头顶飞过，放下了一根绳子。“抓住绳子！”飞行员大喊，“我们把你拉上来！”
“不用了，谢谢，”男人朝上喊道，“上帝会救我的！”
水还在不停地涨，最后，男人被洪水冲走，淹死了。
到了天堂，他气坏了。“我那么信你！”他对上帝说，“你为什么不救我？”
上帝叹了口气：“我给你派了一辆车、一条船，还有一架直升机。你还想要什么？”
