洪水

After days of heavy rain, the river burst its banks, and the whole town began to flood. Everyone was told to leave, but one very religious man refused to go. "God will save me," he said. "I have faith." As the water rose, he climbed up onto his front porch. A neighbour drove past in a four-wheel drive. "Get in!" she shouted. "The water's still rising!" "No, thank you," said the man. "God will save me." The water kept rising, and soon the man had to climb out of an upstairs window. A rescue team came past in a boat. "Quick, jump in!" they called. "No, thank you," said the man. "God will save me." Before long, the man was standing on the roof, with water swirling all around him. A helicopter flew overhead and lowered a rope. "Grab the rope!" shouted the pilot. "We'll pull you up!" "No, thank you," the man shouted back. "God will save me!" The water kept rising, and in the end, the man was swept away and drowned. When he arrived in heaven, he was furious. "I had complete faith in you!" he said to God. "Why didn't you save me?" God sighed. "I sent you a car, a boat and a helicopter. What more did you want?"
