狼來了
There was once a shepherd boy who looked after a flock of sheep on a hill above his village. The days were long and quiet, and the boy was bored.
One afternoon, he had an idea. He ran towards the village, shouting, "Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is chasing the sheep!"
The villagers dropped what they were doing and raced up the hill to help. But when they got there, there was no wolf – just the boy, laughing at them. The villagers were annoyed, and they went back down to their work.
A few days later, the boy played the same trick again. "Wolf! Wolf!" he cried. Once more, the villagers came running, and once more, they found no wolf. This time they were angry. "Don't cry wolf unless there really is one," they told him.
Then, one evening, a real wolf crept out of the forest and began to attack the sheep. The terrified boy ran towards the village, shouting at the top of his voice, "Wolf! Wolf! Please help! There really is a wolf!"
But the villagers just shook their heads. "He's up to his old tricks again," they said, and nobody moved.
That night, the wolf scattered the whole flock.
Nobody believes a liar, even when he is telling the truth.
從前，有個牧羊的男孩，每天在村子上方的山坡上放羊。日子又長又安靜，男孩覺得無聊透了。
一天下午，他想到了一個點子。他朝村子跑去，一邊跑一邊大喊：「狼來了！狼來了！狼在追羊！」
村民們放下手邊的工作，飛快地跑上山來幫忙。可是到了山上，哪有什麼狼，只有男孩在那裡笑他們。村民們很不高興，又回山下工作去了。
過了幾天，男孩又玩了一次同樣的把戲。「狼來了！狼來了！」他喊道。村民們又一次跑上山，又一次沒看到狼。這次他們生氣了。「沒有狼的時候，可別亂喊狼來了。」他們對他說。
後來有一天傍晚，一隻真的狼從森林裡悄悄鑽了出來，開始攻擊羊群。男孩嚇壞了，朝村子跑去，扯開喉嚨大喊：「狼來了！狼來了！快來救命！這次真的有狼！」
可是村民們只是搖搖頭。「他又在耍老把戲了。」他們說。誰也沒有動。
那天晚上，狼把整群羊都衝散了。
說謊的人，就算說了真話，也沒有人會相信。
